National AYUSH Mission

The National AYUSH Mission (NAM) is a flagship initiative launched by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India in 15th September 2014 for implementing through States/UTs to ensure ready access to quality and cost-effective AYUSH health care services across the country.


The core aim is to revitalize and promote traditional Indian systems of medicine, collectively known as AYUSH—Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy.

Objectives

  • To provide AYUSH health care services throughout the country by strengthening and improving AYUSH health care services.
  • To establish a holistic wellness model through Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM)-AYUSH focusing on preventive and promotive health care based on AYUSH principles and practices, to reduce the disease burden and out of pocket expenditure.
  • To provide informed choice to the needy public through co-location of AYUSH facilities at PHCs, CHCs and DHs resulting in medical pluralism.
  • To emphasize the role of AYUSH in Public Health as per NHP 2017.
  • To enhance and strengthen the infrastructure of AYUSH educational institutions.

State Annual Action Plan


The various activities of the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) are being implemented in accordance with the annual State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) approved by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. These activities are carried out under the framework of National AYUSH Mission, aligning with its
strategic priorities of strengthening AYUSH healthcare delivery, education, and infrastructure across the state of Odisha.

Key Components of NAM

AYUSH Services Expansion:

  • Implementation of Ayushman Bharat Activities at 422 nos. Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) – AYUSH across the districts.
  • Strengthening of AYUSH dispensaries and co-location facilities at PHCs, CHCs, and DHs with supply of AYUSH Drugs.
  • Orientation training for AYUSH personnel engaged at different Govt. AYUSH dispensaries under Directorate of AYUSH.
  • Implementation of Public Health Programs like National programme for prevention and Management of Musculoskeletal disorder & Osteoarthritis(at 8 nos. of Blocks) and Vayomitra AYUSH Geriatric health care service (at 6 nos. of Blocks)

AYUSH Educational Institutions:

  • Establishment of New Govt. Ayurvedic College at Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj District.
  • Support for research initiatives and digital learning platforms.
  • Upgradation of libraries and laboratories.

Flexi Pool Initiatives:

  • Innovative projects tailored to Odisha’s regional health priorities like establishment of Panchakarma units at two Ayurvedic colleges (KATSAyurvedic College, Ankushpur & GAC Balangir) and at six DistrictAyurvedic Medical Offices.
  • Implementation of Telemedicine Services at 100 nos. Ayushman ArogyaMandirs (AAM)s through e-Sanjeevani Portal.

Administrative Strengthening:

  • Capacity building of AYUSH Directorate and district-level units.
  • Digitalization of monitoring systems and MIS integration.
  • Support for IEC activities, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
